It's a Requirement

I find it impossible

To tell the world you love somebody

Until you truly know

The color of their eyes

And I don't mean

The generic

Birth certificate answer

Her eyes are not blue

They are the sky above you

On a clear day

And they are storm clouds

When raindrops spill over her lids

And they are the ocean

The part where tiny treasures hide in the sand

So when she asks you her eye color

Never just leave it at "blue".
