Pain
Gain?
The innocent slain
They were treated like dirt
Whether they wore pants or a skirt
They were washed away like muck
And hauled away in big trucks

We did that…
We tried to destroy a whole people’s world
We hurled hate and disgust--
At people exactly like us

And for what?
For guilt?
For the feeling of dishonor?
Or that “pit of my stomach’ feeling,
That occurs when I think about how we treated,
Such a precious creation.
Us
We are one
We are all precious and unique, and equal.
Let this not be a sequel
