It Hurts Anyway, Just Fix It

“It’s not about the taste

It’s not to be cool

It’s not about trying

To make myself look like a fool

It’s about drowning

It’s about forgetting

It’s about trying

To erase all the world’s sins

It’s the antiseptic

To life’s battle wounds

With every gulp

I wash away

My pain

Drink.

Scream.

Repeat.

Clear.

Red.

Brown.

In here there’s no

Discrimination against colors.

In here there’s no

Discrimination against pain.

Whether it’s at a one

two

five

or ten.

Whether it’s alone or with a friend.”

This is where everything’s down the drain

People turn to drinking to ease the pain

Of living

Of loving

Of dying

And repeating.
