It Is Because...

It is because of that day in 1963
that blacks are capable of rising above all.
It is because of unity that I can express the real me
and conquer every single obstacle,
no matter how big or how small.

It is because of the words “I have a dream”
that minorities fought for their inalienable rights.
It is because of the aid of the Almighty supreme
that I have become one who is unstoppable,
praying to help quelch the never ending fights.

It is because of the singing “Free at last”
that I am now treated fair and equally.
It is because of our civil rights that I act with class,
so that I can achieve what was once impossible,
to remove all enmity both legally and peacefully.

So let us give praise to Dr. Martin Luther King
who wanted for the oppressed to “Let freedom ring”.
And it is because of him that I lift my voice and sing
for every human, no matter the race nor color,
to help bring about an equality upswing
in the name of their sister or brother.
