Irritated

your alarm blares

you turn it off

irritated

that it's time to

ready yourself

for work

you get in the shower

you turn it off

irritated

that you couldn't

get the right

temperature

you put on clothes

you dislike

irritated

that your dress

shirt is

wrinkled

you pour your coffee

you take a sip

irritated

that it

was left

on too long

you get in your car

you start it

irritated

that a neighbor's

cat scratched

the hood

.

.

.

your car doesn't move

you sit and think

about the

woman who's

happy her son

survived the night

to get treatment

for a sickness

caused by

poor sanitation

wearing her

only set of

clothes

preparing flavorless

mush for breakfast

hoping the

doctor is

pedaling

as fast as

he can on

his bike

made from spare

parts

.

.

.

your car backs up

you drive to work

happy

that you have

health

water

clothes

food

a car

and the

means

to make

money to donate

to make the

woman's as life

awesome as yours
