Instagram Perfect

Location

It looked original, body so curvy, eye's so blue, gray, green, even something a little in between, you know what I mean? Her little heart fluttered as the likes came pouring in, confidence a boostin', never knew what love was like until those comments came through.

"Damn boo, when you gone let me slide through?"

On the daily they asked, and on a daily those filtered pictures seemed to scream 'Am I pretty enough YET?' Shit it seemed like her nose was too wide, those plump lips seemed to big, and society never let her forget that her thighs jiggled as she walked, and her own people, criticized her for the way she talked!

But those filters were like another god to her, hiding her perfect imperfections, it seemed that this was the only way she was going to get some affection. These filters, like an infection, took ahold of her pictures making her "perfect white teeth" a new permanent feature.

Dark brown, a rich creamy chocolate was the color of her skin, but the new thing that seemed to be in was the pretty light skins. Everytime she looked in the mirror, she cringed, but with a swipe of her finger, she prayed that the filter gods had a new app to make that skin oh so bright, with a snap of her camera, and a slide of her finger across her phone screen, her skin had suddenly became bright. Thinning out those thighs, changing the color of her skin and eye's, her Instagram, Twitter, and even Facebook became filled with pictures of lies hashtagged "#AllNatural, #NoFilter"

These filters made her dream girl fantasy a virtual reality, making someone elses hard work easy with the swipe of her finger, she tried to accept every beautiful flaw she had but this odd addiction was stuck, it had penetrated into her mind, making it hard to rewind time, when those judgemental eyes didn't watch her every move and scroll past every picture when they realized she didn't fit societies criteria, making every cry for beauty left unheard.

"SEE ME!" She seemed to scream through those pictures, but she was unseen until she covered every gorgeous blemish with that filter.
