Inspiration of Love

that summer,

the lights reflect in the parking lot puddles,

warm nights and ice cream,

ferris wheels under cotton candy sunsets.

i dream so wide and fast

i feel like i'm falling,

when i wake i’m in your arms,

rushing over wooden tracks.

the hum of someone else’s childhood

while we were children ourselves.

windows wide,

while my hair rushes in waves towards the freeway,

threatening to drown anyone who wasn't us.

your hand in mine, white lights at 2am.

it's easy now and life feels slow,

running on the sidewalk with no shoes,

running in the mall with no cares.

the creak of my front door at 4am,

the silence of my house against the beating of my heart.

soft rain and your tires squeal,

I press my skin to the cold pane and watch taillights fade-

and there was thunder.

And there was thunder.

And there were always eyes.

When we walk

we have an audience.

Everything fast and serious.

We never say when we see

but we always do.

Storm clouds always hanging

Over our perfect summer.

‘Officer we’re just talking’.

I see you and I see

Sunshine

they see you and there’s

Thunder.

Everything perfect about you,

Their perfect reason to stare.
