I think that you deserve someone better.

That’s my first thought when I see you
But you smile as if you can’t read my mind

You take my hand and I realize I’ll never have the courage to tell you

I think that you deserve someone better

We walk on down the street and my heart races

As you point out your favorite places to go

And all the stories behind them

We pass by a girl and her man sucking face so hard

They’ve probably exchanged souls

We pass by and I get to thinking…you need a girl like that

A girl less conservative than I am

Who isn’t shy in public about PDA

Who isn’t afraid to show the world who has your heart

Don’t get me wrong

I’ll fight for you till my last breath but I can’t help but

Think that you deserve someone better

You pull me to a street corner and point to the building opposite of us

You start telling me why it’s so important

But I can’t be happy with you

There’s a girl standing in the doorway letting a

Photographer snap pictures of her

Then I get to thinking…you need a girl like that

A girl who is more laid back than I am

Who isn’t afraid to let her hair down

Who knows she has something the world wants to see

Don’t get me wrong

I don’t mind taking pictures but I’ll go through one

Hundred frames before I find one I like

I think that you deserve someone better

You drag me into a bar and grill and I spot

A couple to the right

She’s mashing ketchup smothered French fries

Against his lips and nearly crying of laughter

You pull me along but I can’t stop thinking…you need a girl like that

A girl who is comfortable in her own skin

Who can enjoy herself without the fear of other people’s opinions

Who is confident

Don’t get me wrong

If I ate meat I’d chose a burger over a salad any day

But that doesn’t change the fact that

I think you deserve someone better

That’s my only thought as I look at you

And you smile as if you can’t read my mind

Then you take my hand and remind me why I’ll never have

The courage to tell you

I think that you deserve someone better

If the opportunity came along I know

I wouldn’t let you go

You are perfect in my eyes

And as you pull out a velvet box

Smiling as if you can read my mind

I get to thinking…maybe I’m perfect in your eyes too
