Insecurity

Dear Insecurity,

We've been friends for what seems like too long
I'm but a child, with you
Tugging
Pulling
Dragging me along

You choose the direction, you are the pilot
I am hopeless to your influence
Tugging
Pulling
Causing a riot

When I ignore you, you respond with a cacophony
Angered by my audacity
Paralyzed by my capacity

When I indulge you, you consume my confidence
Ravage my self-diagnosed not-so-competence
Rid me of myself.

Insecurity, why don't you offer me the security
The welcoming blankets of bravery
The inviting sheets of a lack of self slavery
Why?

I can't believe it nor can I believe in myself
All thanks to you.
Again I demand you reply to my endless
Why?

But
I will conquer your abuse
Physical, emotional, mental
I am above you, I am out of your league
Constructed by the very mind which you plague.

Goodbye, Insecurity.

Without sincerity, Madelyn.
