Inner Voice

Dear Inner Voice,

It’s been years

Since you’ve been here

Reminding me of my fears

That was made clear

Now you’re back

Ready to attack

My sanity

And create calamity

You’ve been silent

Now you’re so violent

Is it because you think you were forgotten?

Please, how could I

Those years were rotten

No matter how hard I try

Will remain forever in my mind

Life’s not too kind

To let me forget

What should have been left

That would of been best

But I was your muse

And you wanted me to be consumed

By those thoughts

That's what you sought

In the end you won

You have your fun

But I will not vanish

The person you've thought you've damaged.
