Overconfident and unstructured,

Never having been pushed to my limit,

Thinking about my potential future,

And all that came with it.

On the rocks within a course in which I had it all,

Due to a lack of diligence heeding my teachers call,

Drowning in unsanctioned fear,

Finding out I must repeat it all.

Lost within a moment of despair,

Worrying whether life is fair,

Only to conclude that this is college,

A grown up’s affair.

Picking myself up from that moment,

I looked into tempering my components,

Setting my goals ever higher,

I plunged back in with renewed desire.

Fighting and studying to stay ahead,

It took me two semesters to get adjusted,

But using my past mistakes as a template,

I molded my mind into a new way of thinking.

I could do all which I had done before,

As long as I made time to study some more,

Different classes brought various difficulties,

But as long as I know my abilities,

I could perform well, and undertake any mission.
