Infatuation

It happened to me once,

Its so clear, I still recall.

The way my heart raced, the way my stomach would fall.

I remember the excitement of being close.

The idea that it was forever, the plans and the emotions it enclosed. I remember the laughter and the joy, the touch and the promises I knew you’d  destroy.

I remember the moments. Those of happiness and those of loneliness, the tears and the pain, I remember trying to “fix it”, the long talks full of heart ache.

I felt it all once, but I only recall. It all happened so long ago, still it doesn’t feel that far. If only I could restart, forget and have a heart. If only I could love for the first time again, but remembering makes it all hard.

This poem is about:
Me
Our world
