Incorrigible

Remember when us girls chased you boys?

And we started that little kindergarten war?

We yelled at - screamed at - all the little things

Until the teachers deemed us,

Well,

Incorrigible.

But how were we supposed to know yet what that means?

We were too busy trying to figure out how it could be

That birds live in trees and fish belong in the sea;

We were too young to be worrying about what the

Future

Holds.

You remember when we were small enough to hide?

Those times that there was always cake and math had no pi,

But we had to grow up at some point;

We had to "develop" our naive minds into what

We are

Now.

But why do we still chase away teacher after teacher

And make the other children fear us?

Things in our lives still haven't gotten any clearer,

Especially as we stare into each detail of the mirror;

We have grown

Complicated

Somehow.

Now a boy must chase a girl.

And we have to learn about the real wars of the world.

We still yell and scream but it's silently because now we're unsure.

So maybe the teachers were right;

We are

Incorrigible.
