I met a man and his name was Mr. Lonely
How did I know? Because he told me
He kept asking me to make it stop
I asked him what he meant, but he said he couldn't tell me

He taught me all kinds of magical words
Like hollow-hearts and phantom-pain
Numbness and ice were all he knew
And that was Mr. Lonely

I met a man and his name was Mr. Nobody
How did I know? Because he told me
He kept asking me to make it stop
I asked him what he meant, but he said he couldn't tell me

He showed me all kinds of mystical things
Like tears and blood and hurt and rain
Himself and his Hollow were all he knew
And that was Mr. Nobody

I met a man and his name was Mr. Impulse
How did I know? Because he told me
He kept wanting to make it stop
I asked him what he meant, but her said he couldn't tell me

He mastered so many wonderful things
Like lies and breaking window panes
Ruins and ashes were all he knew
And that was Mr. Impulse

I met a girl and her name was Me
How did I know? I just did
She found a way to make it stop
I asked her what she meant, but she said she'd already told me

She gave me dreams of most startling things
Like peace and death and love and rain
All her mind told her was all that she knew
And that was Me

Deep in my Hollow, Nobody's there
Living with Impulse and Lonely somewhere
There's no magic button, no key to the lock
But maybe one day we can make it all stop

The turmoil, the sorrow, the holes in our chests
The sifting though ashes for any life left
The nights without tears, without sleep, without gain
The gaping black hole that is incessant pain.
