An Impossible Love Affair

I attempt to look nice

I'm much too exhausted to.

Meager must suffice.

All I want is to impress you.

I long to tell you

how much I care.

I wish to call out to you

But no sound is there.

This ocean between us

Seems to be miles long

The waves are mighty and high.

The tide is cruel and strong.

Tick tock goes the clock

Our time is running short.

Do you care for me at all?

Will we ever be something more?

My love for you is great.

Sturdy like a stone wall.

Never shaking, stirring, swaying.

What is missing is your love returned

Or I fear that it will fall.
