Impact

The buzz of circular blades,

Cry of the time piece,

Voice of a feline,

And Mother’s melody

All pull me from slumber.

The smiles of peers,

Laughter of pals,

Moments with crushes,

And hugs conveying care

All keep me joyous.

The helpful instructors,

Endless pages of homework,

Multi-colored note packets,

And a satchel of school books

All push me to enlightenment.

The waft of bacon,

Sweetness of a ruby strawberry,

Addition of salt,

And comfort of chocolate,

All call my name.

Car rides with the brother,

Blasting viral tunes,

And a read-in-one-sitting type of book

With a cup of hot chocolate

All teach me how to adventure.

Thoughts of the future,

cuddling with cats,

A family of my own,

New people to observe,

A wide world to explore,

The expansion of worldviews,

A God to know,

A surplus of opportunity,

And new roses to smell

All are impacted by how I greet today.
