Immortality

My biggest fear is not death

It is being immortal

It is watching everyone I love grow old

Their minds slowly escaping them

Until they become a mere shell of what they once were

And there I am

Still fully functioning

Having to stand by and let them leave me

It is watching Earth slowly become Eh

Without art

Without life

Devices become a sheer attachment of our hands

Our eyes see nothing but pixelated screens

What happened to color?

What happened to our lust for life?

Okay, so maybe I lied

Maybe death is my biggest fear

But not my own

I fear the death of the ones I love

I fear the death of creativity and experiencing life in its truest forms

You know what?

Scratch that completely

I fear the death of a story

A life being wasted away

Because we are too afraid of what people think

Too afraid to step out of our comfort zones

Why are we all so afraid?

We aren’t immortal

So why do we dwell on things?

We will be gone before we know it

And with that I say,

There are greater things to fear.
