Immigrant's Anthem

Wed, 05/10/2017 - 20:06 -- MGurram

The red white and blue

Seem to mock the brown hues of our skin

But we plant our feet firmly

We are here to stay

Blood, sweat, and tears,

Twice spent

Once to lay claim to our place in America,

And once again to defend it

We are here to stay

We are learning to shout louder than

Those who threaten our freedom

The burn of our mothertongues is our own patriotic anthem

The song of immigrants

We are here to stay

This poem is about:
Me
My community
My country
Our world
