I'm not sorry

Sun, 04/11/2021 - 10:40 -- A._.L

Dear society,

I'm not sorry.

I'm not sorry that I don't have the perfect figure,

I'm not sorry that I dress the way I want,

I'm not sorry that I don't meet your expectations.

You expect me to dress myself in "appropriate" clothing,

And not reveal too much,

But I shouldn't cover myself too much either.

You expect me to look "appealing" by wearing make-up,

But not too much: because then I just look like plastic.

You expect me to do well at school,

But for what?!

Afterall, you only expect me to be in the kitchen,

And look after the family you forced me to have.

Well guess what society?

I will not do what I do because you expect me to,

I'll do it because my life, my freedom, my dreams and my happiness are in my hands,

And I'm not sorry!

Not yours- but mine dearly,

a WOMAN
