I'm No "-ist"
I don’t like the idea of an -ist.
It’s a pretty heavy label --
It makes you a member
It makes you remember
what you’re fighting
what you’re fighting for.
I have ideas and I have connexions
I don’t need to have a tag
like an animal.
I don’t think there’s a man in the sky
but I’m not an atheist.
I think there should be equal EQUAL rights
but I’m not a chauvinist or a feminist or a sexist
I’m not racist --
if you say a word, it’ll be a word against the world
I want to erase my steps and keep it clean
but I’m no activist.
I’m here
I’m now
Take it or leave it? Please,
Break it down once.
The world needs to keep it cool
but if you’re fighting to cool it down
What’s a pacifist?
They come and go,
the communists, the fascists, the nationalists, the capitalists?
There’s a label for everything --
every thought
every word
every colour of the collar rainbow.
There’s a tag for everyone and everything
making ears like a keychain
Our words define us.
So, what’s it mean to exist?
