Ignorance is Bliss

Your feelings draining away

It hits you

As if a truck slammed you

A tidal wave knocked you off your feet

No

It cannot be

You won't let it be

You stand, slam the chair

Pacing back and forth, back and forth

Your fingertips tingling

Tight inside clenched fists

Your lips buzzing from trapped words

Your head pounding from lost thoughts

One by one

Pieces click together

It all makes sense

You storm out of the room

Bare feet hammer every step

He quickly follows, grabs your arm

You tear out from his grasp

Red ribbons rise on your wrist

You clash through the door

Fiercely dash across the driveway

Your feet stomping the pavement

Your hair whipping through the gusts

Leading you far away

You wanted to know

But what you didn't know

Is how much you wouldn't want to know
