If only you knew.

You say I don't care about my mother
But really you just don't understand
The same time you're looking at my mother
I'm sitting here staring at your hand.

I see all of the actions you're doing
But they're not coming from your heart
You claim to do all you could be doing
But I just want you to do your part.

See a father has a special role
In a young girls life
While he's teaching a slave is her role
She's believing how a man should treat his wife.

A lot of power comes with the term father
This can be good or bad
While you're trying so hard to be my father
I just want you to be my dad.

When you are overcome with anger
You say I'm pretending to be blue
But my true response to such anger
Is just me thinking if only, if only you knew.
