If I Could Change One Thing

Location

If I could change one thing

It would be so that the world could stop hating.

It would be so that the color of my skin,

The religion that I practice,

The people whom I choose to love,

The very gender of my being

Would not affect a single aspect of my life.

If I could change one thing

It would be so that the world would accept me

With open arms.

It would be so that people would say

"You are human,"

Instead of asking,

"What country are you from,

What is your religion,

What is your sexuality,

Why can't you be exactly like us?"

If I could change one thing

It would be the fact that I need to ask for change.
