If Heaven Has a Mailbox

If heaven has a mailbox I would write a letter and this is what I would say.

I love you more than you’ll ever know
I love you more than Frosty loved the Snow.
I love you like only a Father can
I wish I wasn’t a boy trying to play the part of a man.

I love you more than flowers love the rain
More than the Ocean loves the Moon.
I love so much my heart burns in pain
My only comfort is maybe I’ll see you soon.

My heart breaks when I try to imagine your face
Broken, shattered, because I’ll never know you.
I am filled with emptiness my heart begins to race
I wonder if your eyes were hazel or were they blue?

I long to hold your tiny frame in my arms safe and secure
Imagining your tiny hand grabbing my thumb.
My love for you will never change it will remain strong and pure
My nicknames I would have for you, my little dove, my sugar plumb.

Your smile would have lit up my day no matter how it was going
Your giggle would have melted my heart like Butter in the sun.
I hate that the best I can do is a guess but still never knowing
25 years have passed it’s the one thing I beg God to have Undone.

Remember my Dove Mommy and Daddy will never stop loving you
Even though we only talked three days ago after 25 years apart.
We are not together but our hearts beat with a love that is true
Soon we’ll all be together able to make a new start.

Yes my darling, if heaven has a mailbox I would send a letter filled with hugs and kisses to you every single day.
