I write for my toes

At first my words just stumbled
curled out from ignorant mouth
written down to simply please
the cold stare of curt teacher
who held no grand tales
nor pretty kind face
she simply said write in rhymes

I did

I failed

It rhymed of coarse
that's easy to do
but it gave no pleasure
not like now

now I write for my toes
that curl in anticipation
of the next line

I write for the tingle
that dribbles up from my throat
and runs through my soul

I write for my heart
it aches when I do not

I write for my mind
which races and runs
catching words from thin air
that dance across my tongue
and slows only
when I pin my thoughts with ink

I write for my cat
that sleeps near me
he purrs and seems more content
when I talk to him in poems
its silly, but I think it true
my cat know what I say

I write because its romantic
at least I think so

I write because I dream
that my words will inspire all
that one day my emotions
will be felt by hopefully someone
I'd settle for just one man

I write because of coffee
it make me feel a little more
something about its smell
its creamy bitter warmth

I write poetry for many reasons
I write what I think is true
I write for love and laughter
I write for my lost dreams
I write
I write
and
I write
for what I cannot name

and for my toes.
