I WOKE UP LIKE THIS

Location

I woke up like this,
Dark skinned
A skin tone unique to me,
No make up match found.

Eyes that sparkle with life and excitement,
Lips that speak the words of our history and fame.

I woke up like this,
Broken
Heart in shambles,
Mind in shackles

Arms that bare the marks of a dark childhood,
A heart that still is full of love.

I woke up like this
Twisted
Hating myself
And who I am

Legs that want to run for miles away from all the pain
Cheeks that won't dry from all the tears that fall for all my people.

I woke up like this.

Flawed.

But still flawless.
