I Wish

I Wish

We all have certain things we wish,

Certain things we wish to switch.

All the dreams are different, see,

Different, certainly, from me.

The things I wish for aren't always unique,

But when they're unique, there isn't much critique.

For I wish for normal things just like you,

I wish for normal things, but odd things too.

I wish for the power to fly,

Fly away from here, into the big blue sky.

I wish I could go to the moon and back,

To the moon and back, if only these powers I didn't lack.

I wish I could play drums, piano, and strings,

Drums, piano, and strings, among many a'things.

Also, I wish I could keep my big mouth closed,

My big mouth closed, on my lips silence superimposed.

I wish to be able to turn back time,

To turn back time, see reason with rhyme.

Or maybe to convince myself it all turned out okay,

It turned out okay, it's only false memories that stay.

I wish I was popular, pretty, proud,

Popular, pretty, proud, who cares if it's loud?

I wish I could be as smart as some,

As smart as some, who when compared to I'm dumb.

I wish for all these thing, this is true,

This is true, but really you haven't a clue.

There's something I wish for even more than those things,

Even more than those things, regardless the sadness it brings.

The one thing I wish for with all of my heart,

With all of my heart, not a little or part.

The one thing I wish for, despite all the rain,

Despite all the rain, I wish I could take all your pain.
