I wanted to apologize

I wanted to apologize for the day you told me you could no longer handle us.
I thought if I held on to you a little tighter,
I could make you feel the love I had for you.
I wanted to apologize for that moment; but then I watched the sun fade into a pink glow and I silently let go.  Because there is a boy sitting on a park benchwriting a goodbye letter to his mother. There is a girl with a tornado in her chestfrom all the nights her uncle did not know the meaning of
Stop.
Stop. There is a teenager confused about their sexuality and cannot speakfor their father is a preacher and would never accept it,No,Never accept them. There is a Middle Eastern mother sitting with her daughter; explaining to them that it is better to keep their mouths shut.  You and I are not the only heartbreak in this world.
