I want to be me

I sit in class bored out of my mind

The teacher reads, but I'm far behind

Hamlet's asking, "To be or not be?"

I'm asking, "Do I want to be me?"

Do I have to decide right here and now?

World, Please! Slow Down! Holy Cow!

Must I decide if I want a big house?

And if I don't will they call me a mouse?

Will they say I just want to run and hide?

I honestly don't know if I can decide

Is a world of products really me?

Do I just want to be a worker bee?

To sit in my hive and bow to the queen

Well, really, that life sounds just mean

I want a life of laughs and giggles

I want to live in a world like the Wiggles

I have made up my mind to travel the world

I will throw out this society; hurled

I don't need a big fancy house

and I could care less if they call me a mouse

My teacher stops talking and glares at the clock

My classmates turn too already part of the flock

Hamlet's still asking, "To be or not to be?"

I say with a smile, "I want to be me."
