i think i heard him creep again

i think i heard him creep again
that creature in my head
the one that keeps me up at night
wishing i was dead

he haunts my dreams and memories
wreaking havoc on my thoughts
nowhere to turn nowhere to hide
till my corpse decays and rots

it’s only when he goes to bed
i become myself again
without the suffering and fear
that i will cause my end

alas his slumber seldom comes
and trapped here i am found
enclosed in walls of misery
till i’m buried ‘neath the ground
