As I Sleep

Wed, 08/10/2016 - 10:06 -- DeMaree

As I sleep...

Life continues to happen

My chest rises and falls to the rhythm of me breathing

Although I sleep...

my heart is awake

And as far as I know the heart is the only prisoner that can be caged happily since it          knows its emotions lose control...

As far as I know the heart needs to remain behind a cage

As I sleep...

I know you are sleeping...

Probably with your window slightly open because you enjoy a breeze

And I pray that the winds capture your exhales and they journey through the sky only to place it on the back of my neck so I can have the sensation of you by my side.

But until then...

As I am sound asleep with prayers already floating up to heaven...

The earth is still existing even when I am still.
