I sing my melody to please myself

Location

We wear our personalities like filters

trying them on for that new boy or

the girl you just  have to be friends with

one for home, one for school, one for work, one for family

constantly shifting, melting, fluctuating into someone we don't-

I don't really know.

I refuse to do that.

I want to know all my selves, each and every ugly little flaw and

idiosyncrasy.

Why not? Why should I force myself into the mold of those around me?

Why?

A bird doen't sing their high clear melody to please humanity

I sing my melody to please myself.

I hit the notes that I find purest, most resonant, most beautiful.

I chose to be me

only me, just me, but completely,

me.

Here's me #nofilters
