I Should've, But I Didn't

I Should’ve, But I Didn’t

I should’ve turned my head away.

I should’ve ran so very far away.

I should’ve pushed you off and told you, “No!”

But I didn’t.

And today I must pay.

As the pain eats up my heart,

As the pain has its way,

With my soul, with my being.

And you don’t know, you’re not aware.

Or even worse, so painfully worse….

You just simply don’t care.
