A reflection

Millions of beams of light hit a mirror

They bounce off and tell me who I am

They tell me what I am to be

What I am to do

Who to fall in love with

I lash at it and turn away

My peers tell me

We have an accessory for this

We have these filters for that

Yet they do not see me

I am not in need of these filters

These drastic changes to the landscape of my life

For I am next in line

To rise up and become courageous

I close my eyes and think deep

And shape my own destiny

For I see myself best when my eyes are closed

I see myself best as I chose

To be who I am in my truest of truths

And to be who I am in every shape and form
