I sat no more than
I sat no more than five years old
work, work hard now for later I was told
learn to spell, and write, and divide
so when life rolls along wih every new tide
You will be a strong candidate
get a good job, buy an estate
So i took it to heart, and I pushed it strong
dug my head in my books, and got along
and when the time came for optional school
I would get in and there master many a-tool
and four years later, cap and gown
diploma in hand, ready to conquer the town
I'd go out to every newspaper under this sky
tell them to read my work which told no lie
for a journalist, yes, this I wanted to be
but, not any old kind, would set me free
One who spoke truth in every letter
whose work only grew better and better
I'd offer them every ounce of my passion
and then they'd come back in a heartflelt fashion
and ask me onto the staff
where I would write and reveal--until my epitaph.
Because i know this way, I'd go fulfilled
For everything I'd dreamed and willed
manifested itself in my reality
and like I knew it would, it set me free--
