I Linger for the Bold

To give all, I start with nothing

To wait is love; to stand by to truly care

For genuine affection must be mutual before belonging to one

Else merely a fantastical mirage, only projecting what doesn’t exist

I remain through years, you must step first

Already I know the dance, slow and melodic, tortured and excruciating

Yet rushes forward, leaving breathless for its rapidity

And spaces between the melodies leaves absence of all

Stop, surprised at its disappearance, unused to life without

Instinctual search for melodies who churn to faltering steps

But I must pause, and wait for partner’s approach

Prior I sway on my own, I linger for the bold

A tempo for those, but mine is found in rest
