i leave to come back

Location

They watch me,

like I'm going to disappear,

 Afraid,

they plead with me,

they want me to stay.

Do they not

understand

I'm not leaving them?

Do they not

understand

I need to be independent,

just for a little while?

They have to know,

they raised me.

I'm just not the wild baby girl

they talk about sometimes.

I guess life has changed me.

I guess I've grown up.

But that doesn't mean I'm going

to leave.

That doesn't mean I'll turn

my back and walk

away,

that means I'll turn, and look back several times,

coming back to remind them I'm still

there, with them.

I'll be back, to say

"I love you".

They shouldn't worry.

I'm no laughing ghost,

no taunting apparition that will be there one

second,

then be gone.

I am their daughter,

and I leave to came back.
