I Know What Love is Made of

Locations

When I was six years old, I found out what love was made of.

It was made of alcohol, blood, and broken bricks.

At least, that's how it was for my parents.

When I was nine years old, I found out what love was made of.

It was made out of blue yes, sacrifice, and broken promises.

At least that's how it was when I met Alex.

When I was twelve years old, I found out what love was made of.

It was made of razor blades, lies, and kisses that burned my throat.

At least that's how it was when I met Alan.

When I was fourteen years old, I found out what love was made of.

It was made out of tears, long hair, and heartache.

At least that's how it was when i had my first boyfriend.

When I was sixteen years old, I found out what love was made of.

It was made out of weed, hair dye, and gas money I didn't have to spend.

At least that's how it was when i wasted my summer away for a boy who stopped talking to me.

Now that I'm seventeen, I finally understand what love is made of.

It's a fire in my veins that keeps burning, it's lies that were whispered so sweetly into my ear.

It was nothing short of being regretful, but that's what love is.

When I was seventeen years old, I found out what love was made of.

It was made of him.
