I Knew a Girl

I knew a girl

Weak, unhappy

Angered at who she was

Obsessed with who she was not

I knew a girl

Who had beautiful thighs

But hated them for their size

Then one day she put a weight in her hand

She wanted at first to just loose a few pounds

She only wanted to be thin

I knew a girl

Who became obsessed

Instead of hiding from mirrors

She jumped in front of it

She proudly posed for her reflection

And flexed her beloved muscles

She had worked so hard for

I know a girl

Who once tried to hide her body

And now wears shirts to show off her sculpted arms

And her smiling face

I knew a girl

I knew her very well

And I am never going back
