I Hope I Die in the Day

I hope I die in the day
To take with me the sunshine
And every glorious ray

What's a more peaceful way to die
Than in a sky lit the purest blue
So you'll know here is where I lie

But when the blue turns black
I know I'll have to stay and unpack:

To hear the leafed trees rustle and sing me a song
To speak words of certainty and tenderness
To feel the faint chill of snowflakes fall on my tongue
To smell the thick dew of a heavy night of rain

And to see the golden sun set
To bring me a violet sky
So I'll know that it's not just yet
My time to say goodbye
