I Finally Found a Place
I finally found a place
Where I can be nothing at all.
Home. My home. Her home. Our home.
I finally found a place
Where I can have a day where I'm less than.
Not that I'm fake when
I'm out there,
Somewhere,
Being some-one.
I'm simply being the part of me
I need to be,
To handle every day situations.
I finally found a place
That doesn't force "home" on me,
But creates a space for me to stretch my legs,
And feel the carpet treat me like the princess my Father called me.
I finally found a place
Where I can selfishly say "mine",
And not be reprimanded or reminded that it's only temporary.
But don't be under the impression that I've never tasted the delicacy "we call" a home-cooked meal.
I can only recognize "home,"
Because I've had one.
I finally found a place
Where I can be anything I want to be,
And no wandering eyes will judge me,
But see everything,
And still promise to love me.
I finally found a place
Where I feel worthy,
Of something greater than insults I call myself daily.
I am not the lies I've placed on back to carry.
I can leave them at the door where my family meets me.
I finally found a place
Where I can be nothing at all
But the person I CHOOSE to be.
Home. My home. Her home. Our home

This is my favorite stanza, and this whole poem is full of emotion. This home is what everyone would love to come home to, a place to be free. I'm glad you found one and take good care of it. Please keep writing and sharing on the site!
