I truly feel free!
Centuries of injustice and finally
freedom rings!
From the cruel and torturous
shackles to the White House.
The African - American race built
this country and all we asked in
return was the right to be American.
Blacks fought and fought for the
rest of America to see that they
part of "men" in the Constitution's
"All men were created equal".

I feel great pride when I think of all the
struggles my ancestors faced to
simply allow my life to be fill with
equality. I am able to look at the
same sky my ancestors did and
dream of being anything I want to!
I am able to vote for right man run
the country, to get an education, and
simply live life as an equal man!

The Civil Rights Movement marked
the end just accepting racial injustice.
They stood for what they believed in and
refused to back down. Hoses, dogs, and
malice-filled "men of the law" didn't deter
them. They all considered the possibility
of having their dream deferred. They did
not worry about "drying up like a raisin
in the sun" or "it exploding". There was no
need to worry about a deferred dream when
you knew you were going to die for this dream.

I am truly grateful for all they did! I would name
some, but I would do the the injustice of leaving
out all those who fought and died for the chance
for their children, or their children's children, to
live with equality. I feel the freedom they fought
for! I live this freedom they gave me! I will not
take for granted the freedom they fought for!
