I Don't Know Why

My heart aches
For the land that I barely know,
For the people I've barely met,
For the language I barely speak
(Because I was there for a week).

My stomach hurts
When I see this land barely surviving,
When I see its children barely living,
When I see this language barely known
(Because there's no education).

My heart feels empty
When I don't see this land I barely know,
When I can't see the people I've barely met,
When I don't hear this language I barely speak
(And I don't know why).
