As I Do You

Mon, 11/06/2017 - 23:30 -- g.z.

It consumes you and becomes what you are now.

Love is when you hold me dearly to your chest.

(You’d do so if you loved me as much as I do you).

Retelling our days without missing a detail,

Becoming one, you are my air as I am yours.

It consumes you and becomes what you are now.

We’ve become so intertwined, fingers on your wrist

For I am now the bane of your being, love.

(You’d do so if you loved me as much as I do you).

But, you can no longer satisfy me—

your value, from a pearl to filthy scum.

It consumes you and becomes what you are.

Why do you make me hurt you so?

Lovely shades of purple adorn your skin

(You’d do so if you loved me as much as I do you).

Hands snug against your throat, you choke out to me, your beloved.

Love is as painful as the prints that wreathe your soul

But this is not love, it is agony.

It consumes you and becomes what you are now

(You’d do so if you loved me as much as I do you).
