I Could

I could fixate on the dreary gray skies.

I could scowl at the rain overhead.

Then again I could admire the scent of the earth

and dance through puddles instead.

I could curse at the long lines of traffic

I could gripe about being late.

Then again I could turn on the radio

and sing along while I wait.

I could let the world tear me down.

Believe me, adversity is everywhere.

Then again I could roll up my sleeves

and smile through my despair.

I could look for the imperfections:

the faults, the flaws, the stains.

You could too, but don’t trouble yourself,

come dance with me in the rain.
