I And You
I am the river
and you are the channel;
Your deep pathways laid into existence
are ones I flow in, naively.
I am the observer
and you are the painting;
Your sunken earth eyes look at me
and all of my words have been sent away on long lines tracing forgotten tracks.
I am the foreign sailor
and you are the deep existential everything;
Your being encompasses me into a vision
of only and only you.
I am the lonesome crop
and you are the seasons who change hither;
Your alterations dictate the success
of my dependent harvest.
I am the vacant home
and you are the satisfying hearth;
Your expanding warmth and exclusive prescence
give me, myself.
I am the song bird
and you are the cage;
You hold me, hear me,
and free me.
