"I am a Young Black Man" By DD Flora

I BELIEVE people judge me, because of my color,

Because I am not Asian, Mexican or white,

I  am just a YOUNG BLACK MAN!

A YOUNG BLACK MAN who white people see my color as a weapon,

why do “the people” fear of seeing a man of color?

And yet I say,

I am a YOUNG BLACK MAN!

I BELIEVE as a YOUNG BLACK MAN I already live in fear,

With the thought that I am afraid I can no longer walk down the streets,

without someone looking at me.

I am a YOUNG BLACK MAN!

When I see the 12

I as YOUNG BLACK MAN try to look as innocent as possible,

I don’t know if I will live or die.

Because I am a YOUNG BLACK MAN!
