I Am Who I'll Be

Raven hair

My canvas is big

My fangs are sharp

But my mind is sharper

My skin is pale, but my veins are paler

I’m neither mystical nor magical

Extraordinary nor extravagant

But me I am and I shall be all that I am of me.

Raised up from nothing more than a mere soul

Given a name

An identity

A home.

But even those do not define me.

I am defined by my laughter

Expressing jubilance at life’s simplest things

Crying over beautiful men who dance and sing

Smiling without showing any teeth

Frolicking in and out of daydreams

Breaking free from tightly bonded seams

I am not disobedient

Nor am I submissive.

I am simple yet cryptic

Ambitious yet lazy

My adjectives and verbs speak for themselves

Without me opening my mouth

I have not changed the world

Yet.

But with these hands and fingers

Feet and toes

Thoughts and emotions

I am me

And I shall be all that I am of me.

One day, everyone will see.
