I Am Not Who You See

Location

Let's get one thing straight,

AM.

Not how you were expecting that to go,

I know.

Hi, my name is Lauren.

Now, this face you see is one of a female.

This voice is high pitched, and my hips are wide.

Even though you see one of the many girls who cover the earth,

I see facial hair, broad shoulders and an Adam's apple.

I was assigned a gender at birth, and branded with a name.

That is not me.

My mother yells out Lauren.

My mind yells out Shayne.

I am not your little girl anymore.

I am not who you see.

Hi, my name is LaurenShayne.
