I Am Not A Lone Runner

I am not a lone runner,

Mama. Didn't you hear?

There are 5 others out there

Who share my fear

I am not a lone runner,

Mama. Can't you see?

There are 5 other girls

Very similar to me.

I am not a lone runner,

Mama. My brain is nothing new

some share my ideas,

albeit a few.

I am not a lone runner,

Mama. You may not agree,

But 5 other girls are

Just like me

I am not a lone runner,

Mama. There's 7 billion people.

Surely I'm not the only one

In disagreement with the steeple.

I am not a lone runner,

Mama. Nothing is wrong

with my mind. I know you don't

think it, but I am strong.

I am not a lone runner,

Mama. And you know I love you,

But I need to make my

own opinions, too.

I am not a lone runner,

Mama. didn't you hear?

There are 5 others out there

Who share my fear

That due to our thoughts

Ostracization is near.

I am not a lone runner.
